ABOUT US
The ministry was founded by Cecil W. Brown and Edna M. Brown, which are the grandparents of our Pastor. In 2009, God Placed it in the heart of our leader that at the appointed time, he would come back to Roanoke, Va. to rebirth a modern – day “Book of Acts” Church; a 21st-century church, operating in the 1st-century power of Jesus Christ.
Not knowing the appointed time of the fulfillment, Pastor Scott remained faithful and dedicated to his assignment, while seeking the Lord continually for His direction and agenda for the ministry. In 2010, a year later, the Lord made it clear that it was time to move from the promise into the manifestation. With spiritual guidance of prominent leaders in the faith, Pastor Scott postured himself in prayer for when to launch the ministry.
In May 2010, worshippers gathered for the inaugural service. The First message Pastor Scott preached was “It’s time for an oil change” On October 16, 2010, Elder Scott was officially installed as Pastor of The Truevine Church of Christ that was in 2013 renamed “The Vine Church” “A perfect place for imperfect people” and where “Life is in the connection”
“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing.” John 15:5 MSG
WHAT WE BELIEVE
We believe in one Lord, one Faith, and one Baptism. (Ephesians 4:5)
We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God. It is true. It contains the keys to inheriting eternal life, and it reveals the mystery of our faith. (John 5:39; Deuteronomy 29:29)
We believe in the oneness of God, who was the Father in creation, the Son in redemption, and today, He is the Holy Ghost in The Church. (I Timothy 3:16)
We believe in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of the world, was placed in a tomb, and was resurrected on the third day. (Matthew 1:21, 27:38-60, 28:1-7, John 2:18-22, 8:46, 10:17-18; Romans 5:6, 1 Corinthians 15:22; 1 John 2:1-2)
We believe that Jesus is God, for in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form. We proclaim LORD Jesus Christ is the name of God that was given to this generation as the only Name whereby the people of this Grace dispensation of time can be saved. (Colossians 2:9; Acts 4:12)
We accept God's plan of salvation of baptism by water and spirit. Jesus Christ, who was our perfect example, though sinless, was baptized to fulfill righteousness. (John 3:5; Matthew 3:15)
We believe in water baptism by immersion must be in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. (Acts 2:38; Acts 8:37)
We believe in the receiving and indwelling of the Holy Ghost as evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance places you into the body of Christ and gives you the power to live righteously. (Acts 1:8; 2:4; Romans 6:3-11; I Corinthians 12:13; Colossians 2:10-12)
We believe that the Word of God must be proclaimed throughout all the world, according to God's commandment. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Romans 10:18)
Our Blessed Hope lies in Christ Jesus our LORD who has given us the victory over death and hell. Therefore, standing firm on His promise, we anticipate the second coming of Jesus Christ--that great day of resurrection which shall surely come. On that day, the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then, we which are alive and remain will be changed, and caught up together with them in the air. And so shall we forever be with our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ. (John 14:3; I Corinthians 15:51-58; I Thessalonians 4:15-17)
